Abstract:

Measurements of production and utilization of key range plant species are of utmost important tools for making range management decisions specially for stocking rate determination. A study was conducted to examine the relationships of production and utilization of Agropyron cristatumand Stipa barbata, as key grasses in Chaharbagh region of Golestan province, with some dimensional parameters. For this purpose, plants height, basal diameter and canopy diameter and their dry weights were measured. Primarily, correlation matrices and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to assess the relationships of these three dimensional variables with production. The three variables were then evaluated for predicting production by using best subset and stepwise regression approaches. Utilization was assessed based on percentage of height removed in relation to percentage weight removed. Results showed that basal and canopy diameters could usefully predict the production of the two grasses. Finally, because of subjectivity of canopy diameter measurements and its weak role in explaining production variations, just basal diameter was considered in models, having linear relationship with production and the coefficient of determinations were calculated to be 72.4 and 71 for A. cristatum and S. barbata, respectively. Therefore, dimension analysis is an appropriate approach to estimate the production and utilization of range key grasses.

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE: Since, ovarian response during assisted reproductive technology (ART) depends on ovarian reserve so it is important to evaluate ovarian reserve before the ART cycle. The purpose of this study was to determine correlation between basal antral follicle counts and mean ovarian diameter before treatment with ovarian responsiveness.METHODS: This study was performed on 94 infertile women who consecutively underwent ART in Fatemeh Zahra Center in Babol for one year. FSH, LH and FSH/LH were measured on day 3 of cycle, and basal antral follicle count and mean ovarian diameter were determined by vaginal sonography. GnRH Agonist was administered for hypophysial down regulation and then gonadotropin was administered for induction of ovulation. Ampules of gonodotropin, days of stimulation, numbers of oocytes, pregnancy rate and cycle cancellation were recorded.FINDINGS: A positive linear correlation was seen between basal antral follicle count with recovered oocytes (p<0.05).Also, pregnancy rate had a positive linear correlation with recovered oocyte, fertilized ovum and basal antral follicle count (p< 0.05). A negative linear correlation was observed between basal antral follicle count with ampules of gonadotropin, days of stimulation that was not statistically significant (p>0.05). It was not seen a significant correlation between mean ovarian diameter and pregnancy rate, recovered oocytes, days of stimulation and ampules of gonodotropin.CONCLUSION: The results show that antral follicle count on cycle day 3 has positive correlation with oocyte count and pregnancy rate. It is an easy and reliable method to predict ovarian responsiveness that allows physicians to evaluate patients immediately before ART stimulation and to optimize stimulation protocols.

Abstract:

Production of native and non native species in the nursurey is considered as one of the raw materials for reforestation in arid regions. Two important factors affecting the seedling production in the nursery are seed density and seed planting depth which extensive studies have been done in this area. Therefore in this research the effect of seed density and planting depth on height, diameter growth and viability ofH. persicum have been investigated. Haloxylon plantations of Hossein Abad in Qom province with an area of 3180 hectares, is located 30 km south-east of Qom city. Planting depth in four levels of 1, 2, 3 and 4 cm and seed density in five levels of 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 seeds per 1000 m2 were measured. All data were analyzed and the results showed that planting depth of 1 cm had the best results with regard to the basal diameter, height growth and viability percentage so is recommended for reforestration. Planting density of 200 seeds per 1000 m2 was also identified suitable for afforestation.

Abstract:

Introduction: In morphologically normal-appearing inner ears, measurements of the distance between the round window and carotid canal (RCD), the maximum diameter of the basal turn of the cochlea next to the round window (BD), and the thickness of the promontory (PT) just lateral to the basal turn may be used as guide for safe cochleostomy and implant placement. Materials and Methods: From January to March 2022, a cross-sectional observational study was carried out in a tertiary care hospital. The round window to carotid canal distance (RCD), the largest diameter of the cochlea's basal turn next to the round window (BD), and the thickness of the promontory immediately lateral to the basal turn (PT) were measured using CT temporal bone images of 150 persons without cochlear abnormalities. The values obtained were compared using Paired T-test for significance of difference between both genders and sides. Results: A total of 150 participants—, 75 men and 75 women—, with a mean age of 37. 5 years were enrolled in the study. With a range of 7. 18 mm to 10. 52 mm, the mean RCD was 8. 84 mm (SD 0. 8 mm). The mean BD was 2. 27 mm (SD 0. 4 mm), while the mean PT was 1. 15 mm (SD 0. mm). The values obtained did not differ significantly in both the genders and the right and left sides (p = 0. 37 and 0. 24, respectively). Conclusion: The present study has defined and calculated pertinent measures at cochleostomy site that will aid safe electrode insertion and prevent misplacement.

Abstract:

Our analysis of Popper’s philosophy of science focuses on his concepts of tradition and situational analysis. These concepts represent innovative Popperian contributions to a historical and hermeneutical turn in philosophy of science that most of his critics, especially Kuhn, fail to recognize. According to his historical view, Popper conceives sciences as a complex of traditions in continuous transformation and progress by means of rational discussion of theories. In order to grasp the rational progress of scientific traditions, Popper proposes an original method that he calls “situational analysis”. This hermeneutical method seeks to understand the concepts, hypotheses, actions, practices, controversies and products that scientists made to solve problems in their specific historical contexts to improve the truth content of theories. In addition to his historical and hermeneutical turn, Popper also inquired about the social and political conditions for the progress of scientific traditions by means of intersubjective criticism of theories and conjectures. According to him, the rational discussion of ideas requires, as necessary conditions, plurality of ideas, intellectual humility, and freedom of thought and communication that can only exist in an open and democratic society. With these considerations, we may say that in addition to a historical and hermeneutical turn, Popper also contributed to a social and political turn in the philosophy of science

Abstract:

Background: The aim of radiation therapy is to deliver a precisely measured dose of irradiation to a defended tumor volume. Simulation has been used instances to document the configuration of the portal and target volume to be irradiated accurately. Unfortunately, there is non-Conventional simulation in most of cancer centers in Iran. There fore in this study, it was tried to estimate pelvic inlet from inrerspinous diameter (distance between two Ant. Sup. Iliac spine) of the aforementioned patients in Radiotherapy – Oncology Department in Imam Hossein hospital. Materials and methods: Interspious diameter on the surface kin (X) and pelvic inlet (Y) on simulation in the 44 men and 61 women were determined, coefficient (r) in men and women rm=0.8841 rw=0.8141 and linear regression analysis the following equation was obtained. Y=0.525X-0.339 R2=0.7815 for men Y=0.326 X+5.18 R2=0.6626 for women Conclusion: It was concluded that in both men and women, it is possible to estimate pelvic Inlet diameter from Interspinous diameter. But the coefficient of determination (Rsq) is lower in women than men.

Abstract:

Turn to turn fault is one of the major internal failures in the power transformers that if it is not quickly detected, can be extended and led to a complete transformer breakdown. So, the diagnosis and location of the turn to turn fault of the power transformer, as one of the most important equipment in the power system, is the main objective of this paper. For this purpose, a detailed model of a three-phase transformer is presented by the finite element method (FEM) to investigate this fault in the different situations. Accordingly, the number of short-circuit turns as well as fault location, cause to generate the high forces between the short-circuit turns and the other healthy winding turns. Consequently, in this paper an appropriate method based on force analysis of winding turns for detecting, locating and determining fault severity is introduced.

Abstract:

Various schemes are presented for on-line detection of turn faults in induction motor, but none of them deal with the magnitude of the fault ,or in other words, the number of short turns.this paper presents a novel scheme, for turn fault detection, based on parameter identification of a model in which the turn fault is considered. parameter identification is done by a genetic algorithm. by using this technique, in addition to fault detection, the exact magnitude of the fault is also determined. The scheme requires neither prior data collection nor turning for each specific motor, and at the same time is valid for motors with inverter supplies. Insensitivity of the technique to load variation, supply voltage variation and unbalanced supply voltage is shown by many experimental tests. necessary modification and validation of the model used for turn fault real number coded genetic algorithm, and schemes for its convergence speed up are other subjects discussed in this paper.
